Respect

A new found respect for folks who make softies

DSC_0009

And especially for those who write softie patterns (like you, you, you and you)

DSC_0012

People who can imagine turning flat shapes into rounded ones

DSC_0015

With a head, a body, a hump and four legs (albeit slightly splayed ones)

DSC_0017

Who can help to create this kind of happiness

(Except she doesn't actually get to keep it. The toy is a gift for a camel-mad sixty year old man.)

Not sure I'll be making another one in a hurry. It was rather labour intensive.

But I do know it will be well loved.

Happy Sunday to you.

Your spotted camel is just gorgeous. Well worth the work. I agree toys are fiddley.

The funny thing is that I feel that exact same way about quilters!

I'm not good at softies, but did you know my sister has 5 camels as pets.

Hi Andi, I am verrrrrry impressed you finished Chrissy as your first real softie - 'cos she is one of the hardest patterns I've made - but your camel looks amazing! : )
(Thanks to Kate for the nice things you said!)

as a softie maker it is always nice to get "our art" acknowledged for its complexity! Thanks Andi for getting it and I reckon your camel is brilliant!!

ah.. I too have done the "splayed legs" to stand upright :) I was just happy that I managed to finish 3 reindeer in time for Christmas :)

Adorable! Do you mind me asking how the legs are attached that allows them to still be able to rotate on the body?
