Little boys

We have 2 parties coming up for little boys turning 4.

Inspired by a cushion in this post I made these:

Mostly using bits from the scrap box.

It's nice to find some time for 'personal' stitching.

Have a stitching weekend.

I need your advice please!!!

Late last year, I showed some of my work to the local Jewish Museum Shop.

They are interested in having some of my Challah Covers in the shop but were concerned that the fabrics were too garish.

They requested some more conservative looking pieces.

I agreed to make them 6 covers and here's what I came up with.
(Left side is the front. Right side, the back)

Click on the image to see it larger.

They are each about 20" x 16".

I know, not all of them are so conservative looking, but I just had to be true to myself (and my fabric stash).

Tell me, especially those of you from Jewish backgrounds:
  • Which would you buy for your homes?
  • Which would you buy for your mothers?
  • Which would your mothers buy for themselves?
  • Would you buy one for a wedding gift? A Bat-Mitzvah?

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Modern Quilt Guild - Melbourne

I'd seen lots of these Modern Quilt Guilds popping up around North America and wondered if anyone was doing one in Melbourne and lo and behold, I found this:

Are you in Melbourne and interested in checking it out?

Head over here and have a look.

Rather pleased

... that I have finally tackled Jo's Beehive block that was due in December. (Sorry I'm late Jo).

I was rather daunted by tackling a new technique (foundation piecing) but I think it turned out OK.
Although I have a funny feeling the circle of geese should be 'travelling' the other way.

Oh well, what's done is done. Hope you like it Jo.

Also, I'm rather pleased to have received the first of my 3 Pay It Forward (PIF) gifts that I have signed up for.

A sweet little mini quilt from Michele.

With a lovely label too.

Thankyou so much Michele.

Now I really need to get on with my 9 PIF gifts.

Have a stitching weekend.

6

My little boy is 6

In fact, he turned 6 a couple of weeks ago but we've been so busy with summer holidays that I haven't had a chance to post until now.

We had the birthday party over a month ago so that it could be held before school broke up (and all his friends disappeared on their family holidays).

There was:
  • Lots of little boys full of energy and MASSES of testosterone. (What is it with little boys and rough play???)
  • A house full of balloons
  • A MASSIVE cake
  • A magician and a witch
  • Loving family
  • Lots of love and laughter
Happy birthday Jake.
We are so proud of the person you are becoming.
Kind, sensitive, intelligent and very loving.

With much love,
Mum xxx
