It's been a long time since I posted about this hand quilting project but I have finally put the last stitches into my Anna Maria Horner voile quilt ..... now happily residing on my bed.
Each square is quilted in a coordinating Perle 8 colour (single thread)
Once this was done, I wanted to add some more contrasting quilting so I used lots of different contrasting Perle 8 threads (doubled) to create a grid across the whole quilt
And these are all the pretty coloured threads I had to play with. (Purchased here)
This quilt is so amazingly soft. The combination of the voile (front and back) and the hand quilting makes for a deliciously soft and floaty quilt.
Now I need to get back to some other WIPs languishing in the cupboard.
I'm very pleased to have this one finished.
Hope you've had some pleasing finishes lately.
Andi xx

Problem solved!
A friend and quilting genius warned me that using Little Folks voile on the back of a quilt posed a great problem with basting. The gorgeous soft flowing fabric simply would NOT stick to the masking tape used to hold it flat on the floor.
Well, I had a small stroke of genius the other night and realised that all I had to do was sew some cotton around the edges of the backing and stick the masking tape down to THAT.
Here is the whole backing (wrong side) taped down ready for basting.
Lay down the next 2 layers ...
Add something like 700 pins ...
And get quilting!!
This is seriously going to be the softest snuggliest quilt I have ever made!!
It's nice to have a hand quilting project to keep my knees warm on cold evenings.
Andi :-)
