I'm a dressmaker!!

Well .... I made a dress. I used this tutorial.

Fabric is from IKEA. Cost me all of $4 and I have leftovers. Gotta love IKEA!!

Loving the sunshine today.

And my orchids are looking rather splendid too, I think!!

Hope you are enjoying some sunshine too.

Lucky girl!!

So, I went to the Amitie sale a week or so ago and did some shopping for Kate because she was stranded with the kids and no car.

Little did I know, I was shopping for Amy and Sheridan too.
Look what they sent me to say 'thanks':

Sheridan (left) sent me some yellow Pez (because she is thoughtful and kind) and some Babushka fabric all wrapped up on some lovely ribbon and a sweet card.
Amy (right) (also thoughtful and kind) sent some funky squares fabric and some Babushka ribbon AND a card with her own softie creation on it.
(Funny how they both sent Babushka stuff. Love it!!)

Thanks to both of you. Anytime you want me to go fabric shopping on your behalf, just give a yell!! I had a ball!!

Also, here are some fabrics I've pulled out for a new quilt.

Quite a few reproduction vintage style fabrics, all small prints. Hmmm .... what could I be planning?

I plan to take them on our Noosa holiday in a couple of weeks so I'll be hand piecing this one. (Another hint perhaps??)

Any suggestions for crafty things to do around Noosa?

Thanks,
Andi :-)

Back to quilting!!

Feels like a while since I've posted about a quilt.

So here's my latest quilty finish ...

It's a wall hanging for my sewing room.

I found the images for each block using this Flickr tool, then printed each image onto fabric sheets.
Easy DIY fabric designs!!!

I enjoyed hand quilting this one too!

I've called it "Flickr Flowers".

Hope you have a great weekend.
I will be flat out in bed trying to shake off a persistent lurgy!!!

Happy stitching!

My first re-fashion!!

I bought a cute skirt for Ella at the Op Shop but she refused to wear it because it was "too long".
(She is quite a headstrong little fashionista ... and a red-head too!!!)

So I shortened it and added a little ric rac for trim.

Then I took a flower from the off-cut piece and appliqued it to a white t-shirt she also refuses to wear because it is "too plain".

... and voila!!

Let's hope she'll wear it this time!!

Andi :-)

EDIT: We're home and she loves it! Phew!!!

Wedding photos ... and more!!!

We have finally finished putting together a Big Red Wedding Blog to share with all our guests (and other interested parties).

It has photos, video snippets (these may not interest all of you but you might like to click on the vid of my speech if you would like to hear me sing!!), some of the speeches transcribed, etc.

Many of you have expressed an interest in seeing the wedding snaps so you can also head on over to the wedding blog.

In the meantime, here are a few snaps:

The happy couple!

Thanks to everyone for your many kind wishes of congratulations already received.
We couldn't be happier.

Charming birdies!!!

Some dear friends of ours are moving to live overseas next week.

I used some Prints Carming blocks to make something for each of their 2 little people to decorate their new bedroom.
