No stopping me!

Well, now that I've learned to put in a zip, I haven't been able to stop.
I've been recoverring every cushion on my 2-seater and 3-seater couches.

3-seater not quite finished but here's the 2-seater.....

Before: (with the red fabric all frayed and splitting ... hard to see)

... and after ....

A patchwork couch!!! Hooray!!!!!

Noah's Quilt

My girlfriend in Canberra recently had her second baby boy.
I wish we could go and visit but the distance is too prohibitive.

Instead, I have made the new baby, Noah, a quilt for playing on, sleeping under or just looking at.

The design idea comes from Alissa who makes lots of these cute peekaboo babies quilts.
They can also be found in her Etsy shop.

Big brother Ethan (aged 2) might enjoy it too.

The back is from the gorgeous Katie Jump Rope range.

I have stiple quilted it which makes for a super comfy and snuggly quilt.

And I even made biased binding because Judy, I have learned, is always right.

Have a great week everyone and keep stitching.

Thanks Nichola

Last night, Nichola taught me how to put in a zip using my zipper foot.

I am so chuffed at how it turned out.
I never thought I'd turn out something so professional looking.

Here is the finished item on my couch with another new cushion I 'whipped up'.

Thanks again Nichola.

Blogger's Quilt Festival

This is a great idea.

I've decided to join in.

The story I want to tell, I have already told before on this blog.
So, if you click on this link, you'll see all about my Grandmother's 'Grandmothers Flower Garden' quilt.
(Is that cheating?)

Jake's transportation quilt

This one has been a while coming. (See the end of this post for this quilt's beginnings).

Lots of hand quilting has slowed me down somewhat.

But a long weekend away with extended family has given me some catchup quilting time.

This is the whole front ...

... and the pieced back ....

Hope you all had a great long weekend with friends and family (and a little bit of chocolate indulgence)

Inspired

Last week I got to have a catch-up with this wonderful lady. Turns out she's as lovely as she is talented. I really enjoyed our chat and was totally inspired by these .....

... which I got to see IN THE FLESH!!!
The detail in the cushions is exquisite. The quilting so beautiful!

According to Kellie, "it's really easy".
So, inspired by her confidence in me, I went home and had a little try.

I ended up with this little cushion ...

It is my first attempt at 'trapunto' which wasn't so hard after hearing how Kellie does it.

This is the back ...

.... and here is a shot with my hand so you can see that it is rather small.

A lot more practice is needed but I'm enjoying the learning process.

And to top it all off, I got to meet this little man too ....

What a sweetie! I just wanted to bundle him up and take him home!

Until next time, keep practicing. I will!!
