Calling All Quilters!!!

Here is a sneaky peek at what I've been working on lately .....

..... something a bit different!

Well, I need your help and advice ... please!!

The centre panel of this 'quilt' is a 1m square piece of Vietnamese silk which I plan to quilt in a rather intricate design.

Here is my dilemma:
  • How do I baste this without leaving pin holes all over the silk?
  • How do I transfer my design onto the silk for quilting in such a way that I'm not left with loads of horrible marks.
EDIT: Looking through some crafting forums I have solved this second dot point ...Use Glad Press 'n Seal. Amazing product!!!

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Yours in patches,
Andi :-)

New year's catch up

Well its about time I made another post!!! I've been unbearably busy in recent weeks:
  • Finishing up work/kindergarten/creche for the year
  • Hannukah and Christmas celebrations (Yes, we do have both. Long story!!)
  • Birthday celebrations (Happy birthday Mum!!))
  • New year's celebrations
  • Going away on holidays
  • Creating new bedrooms for the little gingies (Not quite finished but here are a few teaser shots...)

Also, the quilt top completed in my last post is now a completed quilt ....

As if I don't have enough on my plate, I have whipped up a new quilt top for Jake inspired by this (second quilt down: Judy's 'Town and Country') .....

To all you lovely bloggers out there, Happy Hannukah/Christmas/whatever you celebrate.
Happy new year.

(I must say, I'm rather glad that the celebrations of recent weeks are all over. Now we can all get back to the important things .... SHOW ME THE QUILTING!!!)

Until next time, happy crafting.

4 finishes and new beginnings

Haven't posted for a while so I have lots to show. Hooray!!

4 new finishes:

(Yes, I know, there's only 3 in the picture there but the fourth one will come later)

From top to bottom:

1. Mum's bridge table cover is finally finished ....

I think I love the fabric on the back most of all!! Such a shame to have it hidden away like that.

2. My 2 year old great niece (long story) lost her great grandmother earlier this year.
In Grandma's fabric stash was a lovely purple wool which I have converted into a blanket for Maddie to remember her Grandma by.
It will be her Christmas gift this year ....

3. Jake's quilt finally has a binding. I chose a gorgeous chunky stripe which works really well ....

4. I have truly fallen in love with Joel Dewberry's new Ginseng range which I have used recently to make some cushions.

Well, I just HAD to have some more.

So, the 4th finish was a very quick and easy project inspired by this.

And now for the beginnings ....

To go with the new fabric covered canvas, I will be making a quilt featuring these ....

And, I have also started a new quilt for no particular reason.
I wanted to use some of the fabrics in my stash so here is a sneak peak at what I'm working on at the moment ...

That's all for now.

Much fabric love from Andi :-)
