On the holidays ......

We have just come back from a week in sunny Noosa.

It was a fantastic week to choose because Melbourne has just had one of the coldest September weeks on record.

There was much swimming ...

Entertaining ....

(Making new friends on holidays was always the best!!!)

Some bushwalking ....

A sighting of the rare "Sunshine Coast Penis Tree" .....

Some Eumundi Market shopping ....

(I actually bought HEAPS more than this but didn't get any photos)

There was much slack jawed TV watching ....

and happy snapping in the sunshine ....

Of course there was also a little stitching ....

No chance of going a whole week without some craftiness sneaking in.

Happy stitching.

One sewers trash .....

I'm always amazed by what gets left in the scrap bin at my stitching class at Amitie each week.

Look what I scored last Tuesday!!!!

These will most likely find their way into some stitched greeting cards, or maybe a quilt like this one ... or perhaps this one!

Happy stitching.

Kinder Quilt

It's finished .... finally!!!

I don't know why I left it unfinished for so long!

I'm really looking forward to giving it to the Junior Class tomorrow.

I can't wait to see them all searching for their own little faces in the balloons.

It will be a gift in honour of Jewish New Year (beginning officially tomorrow night).

Wishing you all a sweet and creative (Jewish) new year.

Prep news

Where we live, 'Prep' is the first year of school (aged about 5 or 6).

Jake's school had their school concert recently.

Here's all the Preps singing My Cherie Amour (by Stevie Wonder)

Too cute!!

In other Prep news, one of the mums had her third baby recently ... a girl.

Here's a little gift I've made for the baby:

.... with a little blatant self-promotion for good measure!!

Hope you are having a good week.

Keep it simple

My dear girlfriend had a baby boy yesterday.

It took her quite a while to find her Mr Right, but when she finally met him, everything quickly fell into place ... except falling pregnant ... which took longer than expected.

So you can imagine my excitement at the arrival of little Jonah.

I wanted to make her something QUICKLY!!! So I put together a simple little quilt (about 35 inches square .... just the right size for a pram cover or a portable play mat) with a matching carry bag.

With less than a 24 hour turn around, I think that it is a sweet little quilt. It reminds me that 'simple' can sometimes be just what you need!!

I'm off to meet him now!!

Hope your weekend has started as happily as mine.

I know it's rather premature but I've been having fun making mosaics of some of my crafty projects so far this year:

My siblings and I gathered at my parents place this morning for father's day.

The Beehive

I've joined my first quilting bee

Here are my first blocks. They are for Mel

She asked for more traditional log cabins and I started with this one. Not so traditional.
Lucky she sent planty of fabric!!

Still not so traditional.

Getting better!

The most recognisable as a log cabin, I think.

I hope she likes them!!

This quilting bee thing is fun but I seem to put lots of pressure on myself to really get the blocks "right". Do you guys have that experience?

Have a great and crafty weekend.
