Lesson learned

Last Tuesday, I went along to Judy's class at Amitie feeling rather pleased with myself.
During the day I had been to a fairly large cheapish fabric retailer to buy some backing fabrics for this quilt I'm making for my daughter, Ella. I bought some very cheap but lovely ginghams in pink and yellow.

When Judy saw what I was working with she warned me that it wasn't going to end well.
I persisted. "It will be fine", "Ella won't notice a thing".

About 2 hours later I admitted defeat, unpicked the nasty buckled quilting I'd done and made a new back using much lovelier Amitie fabrics. End of class.

So yesterday, I got quilting ... again.
MUCH BETTER!!!
Here's what I did .....

Now it just needs the binding put on and all the loose threads trimmed.

Kiss kiss!!

the quilt looks beautiful! i love the fabrics you've chosen. there's something about sewing that will not let me settle for not quite good enough. i won't say i enjoy a do-over, but it's usually worth it in the end.

Wow, that looks amazing. Great job, I'm sure Ella will treasure it forever. Yellow and pink are a good combo. aren't they.

Beautiful. Are the squares ironed under and then sewn on? I like the effect.
